Who can apply?
The program welcomes and encourages current and emerging leaders from
the private, public and not-for-profit sectors to apply. This diversity of
individuals and interests will create an appreciation among participants of
the range of issues facing our community and add to our network of informed
and dedicated leaders.
We welcome applications and inquiries from anyone who demonstrates
leadership qualities and is committed to joining a network of informed and
committed community action-takers.
What is the cost?
The participation fee for Leadership Edmonton’s ten month annual program is $2,700.
Participants are asked to personally pay $250. We ask that you request financial support from your employer (or another sponsoring organization) for the balance of $2,450 or choose to pay it personally.
In keeping with Leadership Edmonton value of diversity, we encourage your application
regardless of financial limitations. You may request additional grant or bursary information from Leadership Edmonton.
Leadership Edmonton is pleased to acknowledge the financial support that has been provided to previous applicants. The Belcourt Brosseau Métis fund, the Gay Bisanz Leadership Development Fund, the Muttart Foundation, Edmonton Community Foundation and Alberta Venture.

in full by August 31, 2008, unless alternate arrangements have been made.

How do I submit my application?
Send your completed application via email (with required attachments),
by facsimile, by mail or in person.
When does the selection process begin?
There is a two stage process that involves screening the written portion
of the application, followed by an interview of the short listed candidates.

Part I: Letter of Introduction
Please include an introduction letter that indicates how you found out
about Leadership Edmonton and your expectations for the program.
Part II: Resumé
Please submit a resume that includes your employment history, volunteer
experience, educational background and other training. Please indicate which
of the three sectors you best represent: private, public or not-for-profit.
Part III: Leadership Perspective
Please respond to the following questions.
- Who are your personal role models (individuals or organizations) or
sources of inspiration for leadership and why?
- Based on these role models, what leadership skills do you want to learn
or strengthen?
- What are the three most significant community based challenges in
Edmonton right now?
- Describe two experiences in your work or volunteer career during which
you demonstrated leadership in creative and effective ways. Explain why
different aspects of these experiences were effective or not effective and
why. Finally, explain what you learned.
- Why do you want to be a part of Leadership Edmonton?
- How will you invest the leadership skills you build through this
program back into our community?
Part IV: Leadership Perspective
Identify an important issue in your community on which you are currently
working and one that requires innovative leadership. Describe how you would
respond to the issue. Keep your response to 1 to 2 pages (maximum 500
words).
