Community Leadership Background and Websites

The first community leadership program was launched in Philadelphia in the 1950s in response to racial tensions in that city. Other US cities followed, recognizing that strong leadership was key to building strong, unified communities.

In 1999 the JW McConnell Family Foundation was instrumental in providing the funding and assessment for developing community leadership programs like Leadership Edmonton.
